Under sunny skies shoppers turned out in force to enjoy the community spirit – and some good bargains! A few fun facts: approximately 2000 keen shoppers turned out to buy nearly 1000 boxes of donated goods for a total of HK$630,000. This was made possible by the many generous donors and a plentiful selection of homeware items, toys, clothing, bags and accessories to tempt the shoppers.
There was also plenty of kosher food organised and coordinated by Chabad, according to many, serving the best falafel outside of Israel! DJ Osher Zarif kept the shoppers and volunteers happy with amazing music, providing a wonderful shopping atmosphere. Sponsors for this year included; EL AL Airlines, Marvino Trading, Happy Cow Ice Cream, Dr. David Cosman, Santa Fe Relocations, Pita Boon, Magnificent, Curves, Kornit and Gonzalo. In addition Elsa School students turned out in force to help out in the Kids’ Kingdom and run the secondhand bookstall.
According to JWA, attendance and profits were record breaking this year, and will go a long way towards funding its charitable projects for 2015. “Once again the Hong Kong Jewish community pulled together to make it happen, so thank you donors, sponsors, shoppers for your support but most importantly, a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped to set up and sell on the day of the Bazaar. We couldn’t have done it without your contribution,” noted Shani Brownstein, JWA co-chairwoman.
