JWA 2010-11 Overview

A letter from our Chairperson Daphna Peiser sent to JWA members and affiliates:

Dear Friends,

Another Hong Kong year is coming to a close. As we all prepare for our summer getaways, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for being part of another successful JWA year.

2010-2011 was a year of deepening community ties, opening our hearts to newcomers and building our structure for the future.

We re-defined our mission statement and with it the goals of our organization. Defining ourselves as a charity organization with a strong commitment to empower everyone who is associated with us, gives us a sense of clarity as to what we should do and how.

We kept our long-term commitment to our beneficiaries and this year, not only did we invite two talented young girls who fought cancer to visit Hong Kong and sing at the ball, but we also ensured the purchase of a new state-of-the-art life saving machine for Schneiders Children's Hospital.

For Tlalim, thanks to Roni Namdar and the HK Jewish Community, we can ensure Vika will keep on with her high school studies for an entire year with the help of private tutors and a teachers who will come to her home when she battles her brain illness.

We will keep supporting WIZO and Alut with a couple of projects. This summer we will start sponsoring the building of a new occupational center for austistic  adults which will be located inside WIZO's youth village. We will also continue to support the battered women's shelter in Ashdod.

This year we are saying goodbye, again, to many people we love, who supported and worked hard as JWA members. I would like to wish all the best to: Tally Ben Sira, Shiri Feldman, Limor Kovar and Orly Yaffe. We hope to see you in Hong Kong again.

I would like to invite you all to go online and visit our new web site. There you will find wonderful information about our organization, beneficiaries as well as pictures and videos from our events, including the JWA ball, May 2011. The url is: www.jwa.org.hk.

Next year we will be celebrating the JWA 65th anniversary. We plan to have a number of activitie during the year. If you have ideas of if you want to be a part of the planning team, please contact us as soon as possible.

Enjoy your summer and we'll see you soon.
