Daphna’s End of Term Letter

Dear Friends,

We wanted to share some news, as everyone returns from their summer vacation and re-settles back in Hong Kong.

It is no secret that after serving three years as the JWA Chairperson, I have reached the end of my term and will be formally stepping down at the up and coming Annual General Meeting on August 28th.

The past three years were intensive and wonderful for me. I found myself immersed in a job which has everything I could have dreamt of… I had the opportunity to work with wonderful team members, amazing community leaders and volunteers,  and together we produced concerts, events, newsletters, etc. These were things I never knew I had in me.

The sweetest thing is seeing the results; watching people from every corner of our community enjoying our events, being active participants and contributing to the continued success of the JWA.

The causes we support are amazing! We have just came back from our visits in Israel, where, as every year, we checked upon those who get our funds, before money is transferred. Seeing with our own eyes that the money we give reaches the right people and makes a difference in children and women's lives is, for me, the icing on the cake.

My vision when I started three years ago was to transform the Jewish Women's Association from a primarily Israeli dominated organization to a more diverse one.

Three years later, with a new logo, a clear mission statement and a new dynamic team at the board, I am happy to announce that the new Chairperson of the JWA will be the first ever Brazilian Chair, the wonderful and talented Ana Scherer.

Ana will be joined by Gilat Gefen who will be acting as Vice-Chairperson. Both Ana and Gilat have done so much for the JWA already; they are bringing new energy, which will lead the JWA into its 70's anniversary and more.

Ana and Gilat will assume their chairmanships and introduce themselves at the up coming AGM. You will have an opportunity to get to know them, hear about the projects we support and take part in the future of the JWA.

Please mark your calendars, come and be part of the new Jewish Women's Association of Hong Kong – Tuesday, August 28th, 8.30pm at the JCC.

I hope to see you all there.

All the best,

Daphna Peyser

JWA Chairperson (for the last time)
